The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) or The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has existed for around 20 years for the purpose of "promoting and protecting of all human rights around the globe." The 47 seats are filled and elected by members of the general assembly of the United Nations.
It is able to suspend the rights and privileges of any member who has committed severe or repeated human rights violations.
