Crisis committees break from the traditional mold of the signature general assemblies with fast paced discussion that have immediate impacts within the simulation. Delegates will have the opportunity to run through the course of the conflict by using their portfolio powers, communiqués, and other powers to craft their own novel resolutions.
The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 is considered to be the closest that the United Stated and USSR came to a all-out nuclear contest
during the Cold War. When the Soviet Union deployed ballistic missiles in Cuba, a 13-day conflict between the two super powers ensued. In this committee, delegates will either work as the US and its NATO affiliates or the USSR and countries in its sphere of influence to find to find a peaceful compromise before global nuclear destruction occurs.
